Scarface's musical influences include Kool G Rap, Spoonie Gee, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane.

Scarface is widely known as one of the pioneers of subgenre mafioso rap, for it to Kool G Rap used as a source of inspiration (especially his third album Live and Let Die). Scarface's lyrics have proved to be widely influential for the mafioso rap subgenre, thanks to his use of topics such as gang rivalry, cocaine dealing, murder and sex, as well as taking a huge inspiration from Tony Montana, the main character of the 1983 movie, Scarface. His lyrics also focus on life in the "ghettos."

Rappers who cite Scarface as an influence include Raekwon, Drake, Ludacris, Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, Lil Scrappy, Young Buck, UGK, Method Man, T.I. and various Houston Rappers such as Mike Jones, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Lil Keke and Paul Wall.
